Born in Manila, Philippines, Dominic Mangila is a professorial lecturer at the University of the Philippines - Diliman College of Fine Arts. He holds a BFA in studio art degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA degree in visual arts from Columbia University where he taught painting and drawing in the visual arts department. He had solo exhibitions at Vargas Museum and Drawing Room in the Philippines, Marvelli Gallery in New York, Reserve Ames in Los Angeles, Alberta Society of Printmakers in Canada and Chashama in New York. He has participated in various group exhibitions at Art Asia Now in Paris, Neiman and Wallach Galleries of Columbia University New York, Mind Set Art in Taipei, Storeront Brooklyn, Tompkins Project Brooklyn, Manila Contemporary, 1335 Mabini, Valentine Willie Fine Art Malaysia, HT Contemporary Space Singapore, Vargas Museum Philippines and Metropolitan Museum Manila. He has participated in artist residencies such as Skowhegan, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Yaddo, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Woodstock Byrdcliffe and Seven Below Arts Initiative. He is a recipient of New York Community Trust Art Grant, Lotos Club Foundation Art Award, D' Arcy Trust Fund, Agnes Martin Fellowship and Chicago Community Art Grant.. He will participated in the Gwangju Biennale at the Philippine Contemporary Art Network Pavilion in 2018 and will show his recent paintings at the Drawing Room Philippines in 2021.
